Keynote Speaker: Mrs. Ayala Berney
Mrs. Ayala Berney is the Principal and founder of Pe'er Bais Yaakov, a high school for girls in the tristate area. An educator for over 35 years, she is impassioned about instilling the next generation with mission and idealism. Mrs. Berney speaks nationally on many topics involving education and Jewish beliefs. Mrs. Berney is also a personal mentor to Michal Jacknin, we are so fortunate and honored to have her join us.
Mindfulness and Meditation with Ann Friedman Ph.D.Ann Friedman, Ph.D., a psychologist, has studied mindfulness intensively with various national teachers since 2007. She received a Certification in Mindfulness Facilitation from the Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) of the Semel Institute of Neuroscience and Behavioral Medicine at UCLA. Ann has also completed courses for teaching mindfulness to children and teens through Mindful Schools, Sitting Like a Frogand A Still Quiet Place.
Ann previously served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston Counseling Psychology Graduate Program for over ten years. She holds both a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston. She completed her Residency in Clinical Psychology at U.T. Medical School and her Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Baylor College of Medicine. Ann is marred to J. Kent Friedman, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer of Morae Global, LLP. They have five children and eight wonderful grandchildren. Art Workshop with Ruthi Drori- MitelmanA native Houstonian, Ruthi spent her teen years in Israel, where she received her degrees in Architectural Design and English Literature. After moving back to Texas, she received her accreditation as a K-12 Fine Arts teacher. She’s taught Studio Art for over twenty years, to elementary through high school students, as well as adults. Her teaching focus is drawing and painting, sculpture, and mixed media crafts, with an emphasis on design elements.Ruthi is passionate about color and its uses in creative expression, and believes firmly in every individual’s right to live their life as colorfully as they choose, whether literally or figuratively!
